Birsa Munda and Adivasi Identity: Ulgulan to Rights

Birsa Munda led the Ulgulan, or Great Tumult, against colonial exploitation and local oppressive structures in the Chotanagpur region.

His importance goes beyond one rebellion. He helped shape a language of Adivasi identity, land rights, religious reform and resistance to colonial interference.
